History:

Barbara Bartolomé is a woman with mission and the courage to carry it out. Early one morning in March of 2003 she heard a very clear word to “start a scrapbook store.” Not in the retail business world let alone a scrapbooker at the time the word seemed strange to her. Yet the word was powerful enough to her that 6 hours later with very little idea of what she was getting into she had secured the money to open her business. Four months later “Santa Barbara Scrapbooks” was born. It’s been an amazing and wonderful experience ever since.

Nestled in the heart of Santa Barbara, which is a popular tourist destination known for not only the scenery but for being a historic, friendly and photogenic city. Santa Barbara Scrapbooks attracts many traveling scrapbookers through travel directories and just plain word of mouth. Located at 918 Chapala Street, and just a half block up from Nordstrom (Paseo Nuevo Mall) in Santa Barbara, California. Santa Barbara Scrapbooks features 10,000 items related to scrapbooking, stamping, card making, college and other paper arts. Not only does it have a wonderful selection, but everything is organized to the point that customers comment they have never seen anything before like it! Their excellent customer service not only has developed many devoted locals but scrapbookers from much of Southern California as well.

Specialties:

Classes cover a wide variety of subjects and pertain to everything from your basic scrapbooking class to card making, children’s scrapbooking and even photography. Santa Barbara Scrapbooks even teaches EK Success’s Scrapbook Design University classes year round. Their main crop night is called “Friday Fun Nite” and for $20 participants can have dinner, dessert and soft drinks and then have literally all day to crop. Crop participants came come in at 10 am when the store opens and may choose to stay until midnight.

Customers are offered a punch card and will receive $10 in free merchandise after spending $150 in non sale merchandise (excludes classes/crops and gift card purchases) anytime during the year. During December “Reindeer Bucks are offered instead of punches. Customers receive $5 in Reindeer Bucks for every $25 in purchases (again excludes classes/crops and gift certs) during the month of December. The Reindeer Bucks can then be redeemed like cash for all sale and non sale merchandise anytime in the month of January.

Location Highlights:

While the scrapper of the family is busy shopping at the store, the family can enjoy the beautiful Spanish architecture, wonderful beaches and vast variety of plants and flowers. Not to mention lively festivals, great shopping, restaurants and local attractions. The Santa Barbara Zoo, the Natural History Museum, and the Santa Barbara Botanical Gardens are all fun places to explore. From renting Segways, bikes or four wheeled canopied petal carts to cruise the bike path, or even taking a guided tour on the Land Shark (which rolls around town and right into the harbor!) There is something for everyone. Situated between the Santa Ynez Mountains and the Pacific Ocean, Santa Barbara is located about 90 minutes north of Los Angeles on Highway 101 which is a beautiful windy trip up the scenic California coastline.
